  Step 1 – Planning

Upon receipt of your initial deposit (25%-50%) you will receive a design questionnaire.  The design questionnaire provides us with details about you, your business and your overall vision of your website.  It is important at this time, as it is through the entire process, to be very specific.  By relaying your goals and vision for the site it helps us gain an understanding of how you want your site to appear, as well as, how you would like it to function.  It is during this time we will begin brainstorming the logo & site design.  After reviewing your questionnaire we will provide you with a timeline for your specific project.

  Step 2 – Logo Design

Assuming you do not already have a logo, this is the most important step of your design.

The logo often dictates the color scheme and over all look of the website.  If you do not already have a logo, you will be presented with three (4) logo design options.   After the initial presentation you will be provided with three (3) rounds of revisions.  We will work together closely to compose a logo you are completely satisfied with and meets all you needs. At SpyderWebbDesign it is important for us to provide you with a versatile logo that can be used on print media as well as online. Once your company name is concrete we will register your domain name unless you have already done so.

Step 3 – YourNameHere.com Coming Soon!

Once your domain name has been registered we will set up your hosting account with either Merchant Moms or PappaShop.  If you already have a web host it is at this time you will set up the hosting account and provide SpyderWebbDesign access to the hosting account.  We want to quickly get rid of that placeholder page provided by the hosting company.  To do this we will create a Coming Soon! splash page announcing your new website.  We will place your new logo along with your contact information, and if desired a newsletter sign up form.  This is when the excitement begins!  At this time, if you have only made a 25% deposit, the next 25% payment will be due.

This Coming Soon! page will remain in place until the launch of your new site design, if you already have a website and we are only performing a facelift this page is not necessary.

Step 4 – Information Gathering

It is at this stage we will provide you with a custom “website checklist” detailing the information you will need to provide for the website.  You will gather verbiage, photos and any other information you would like included on the site. During this stage we ask that you prepare the copy for your website.  You are welcome write the copy text yourself or work with one of our copywriters.

If providing the text we ask that you please send it in Microsoft Word, Works or in the body of an email, for ease of addition.  (This information can be sent via email, CD ROM, or flash drive ~ flash drives will be returned)  Photos, if not sent on CD ROM or flash drive must be sent as email attachments, not imbedded in emails.  Large files may be sent using www.yousendit.com

Step 5 – Site Design

At this point we begin building the framework of your website.

You will be provided with (2-3) static layouts showing the nuts and bolts of the website. In most cases multiple designs are not necessary.  During this process it is imperative you provide us with feedback on your likes and dislikes of the site.

The static layouts will not be fully functioning; it will be a “frame” for the pages.  The frame will show the basic site navigation and design layout that will be carried across the site.  From this point we will work in close consult with you to tweak the design until we have it just right!

You will be allowed two (2) major rounds of revisions during this stage of the design.  Once we move on to the instillation of the website site, overhauls will incur additional costs.  (Overhaul include – complete framework redesign, major graphic changes, additional functionality and features.)

Minor changes and tweaks are always allowed through the design process, but the major framework needs to be set before moving on.  It is very important to us that you are 100% satisfied, so please voice your concerns throughout the process, waiting until the launch date could result in additional cost and loss of valuable time.

Step 6 – Construction

Now we begin the actual site coding, adding the shopping cart for eCommerce sites, and implementing any special coding which is client requested.

During this process text and photos are added to the site, therefore, you will need to have all of your information to SpyderWebbDesign prior to construction.  Your website will be constructed on your domain name on a backend page.  You will be provided with the necessary links to view the site through the entire construction process, and we ask that you notify us of changes that need to be made as soon as you see them.

If ordering a eCommerce site we will add 25 items to your cart prior to site launch.  We ask that you provide photos, item descriptions, and pricing information for these items.

eCommerce sites ~ Once the entire site is built and has met your approval we will set up a conference call with you to go over the shopping cart, and provide you with the detailed instructions on how to enter your inventory.  During this conference call you will need web access and about an hour and a half (1.5 hours) to complete the cart training.  We want you to feel completely comfortable with the shopping cart functions.  Prior to the conference call we will provide an eBook outlining the process for reference; we ask that you please review the eBook before the conference call to familiarize yourself with the process.  The eBook will also contain all of the information to access your site including passwords, etc.

Brochure sites ~ Once the entire site is built and has met your approval we will set up a conference call with you to go over your site maintenance & provide you with all the instructions necessary to maintain your site.  Prior to the conference call we will provide an eBook outlining the process for reference; we ask that you review the eBook prior to the conference call to familiarize yourself with the process.  The eBook will also contain all of the information to access your site including passwords, etc.

Step 7 – Stocking the Shelves (eCommerce Sites)

We will add 25 items to your cart prior to site launch.  We ask that you provide photos, item descriptions, and pricing information for these items.  Additional item entry is available at a rate of $2.00 per items.

Once SpyderWebbDesign has entered your initial 10 items, you will be required to enter your remaining items.  It is at this point you will add item photos, item descriptions and pricing information.  We will be available to answer any questions that may arise during this process.

Again if you are taking advantage of the additional item entry by SpyderWebbDesign, this will not apply to you.

At this time your remaining balance will be due.

Step 8 – Testing… Testing… Testing…

SpyderWebbDesign will run a series of tests and sample orders to insure the entire site is functioning properly at this time.  Any order entry issues will be addressed at this time.

Your site will be reviewed using Internet Explorer 7, Opera 9 and Mozilla Firefox to insure the site renders properly, and will be checked on several computers using various versions of Windows and screen sizes.  We are more than happy to check other browsers upon request.

Step 9 – Site Launch!

The big day is finally here!  Your Coming Soon! page will be removed and your site will go live!  It is time to aggressively market your site and get the orders rolling in!  SpyderWebbDesign will submit your site to several of the major search engines (Google, Yahoo! & Dogpile) on your behalf.

Note:  any claims of defects, glitches, or changes must be made within 14 days of the launch date.  Any claims after this date will be subject to SpyderWebbDesign’s hourly rate of $45.00 per hour.
